It’s almost 2019 and I’m super excited about the new year! Do you get excited too? I love the fresh start, the new beginnings, the setting of goals, and the making of plans. Before we jump into 2019, let’s take a look back at the fun that happened here in 2018. I’ve already shared the top ten recipes of the year and my top twelve favorites and now I’m sharing the top twenty most popular posts – the ones you read the most, shared and pinned, and even tried. As always, thank you … your feedback makes my life and this job so rewarding and I love hearing your comments and ideas.
Ready for the top twenty?
I created a college survival kit with some of my favorite items for college kids and also made a printable so you can send a survival kit to your kiddos too!
I shared a fun idea for a girl’s night in: a succulent planting party. The punny embellished wine glasses and the pretty succulent backdrop add to the fun.
My pantry got an overhaul this year and I shared my pantry organization ideas {I’m still LOVING my pantry makeover but can’t wait to also paint the shelves and walls in the pantry}.
I shared my first gift guide this year, giving it a creative spin, and I was pretty surprised by how popular it was. I think this will be something I’ll continue next year as well.
I moved into a new house a little over a year ago and I’ve been having fun adding a personal touch to my home, including an upcycled shutter valance in my family room.
My back patio got a little color last summer with a DIY embellished outdoor umbrella. I saw so many fun umbrellas last summer and decided to upgrade one myself, a far cheaper way to get the same look.
I also shared tips for creating a home that suits your personality, no matter what your style is.
If you wander up to my newly painted red door, you’ll also see the DIY stenciled welcome mat I made. It’s a fun way to greet guests and makes me smile every time I see it.
I love old faucet handles so I used some to replace the cabinet handles on the linen closet in my kids’ bathroom. It’s a quirky, upcycled touch that looks really fun.
I love the look of hardware on a garage door but have no plans to replace my garage doors anytime soon. Instead, I found a great {and inexpensive} way to update my garage doors with the same look.
My little one loves to write notes, pretend to teach school, and keep all kinds of little papers and things so I made an upcycled command center out of old cabinet doors. It’s gotten a lot of use and looks really cute too.
I joined a group of other bloggers this fall and we all shared some fall ideas. I shared fall porch ideas and gave my front porch a bit of a seasonal update.
Coffee is my love language. If you’ve been around Dukes and Duchesses for any time, you already know that {wink}. I used my Cricut machine to make coffee stencils for a fun way to add something cute to the top of a latte.
Color is another of my loves and I shared a simple rainbow produce centerpiece idea this year. This idea can be customized in any way … just hit up the produce area in your local grocery store and grab fruits and vegetables in a variety of colors.
I love the look of a styled tiered tray but I’ve struggled with how to decorate the tray in my kitchen. Inspired by a friend, I finally styled it with a vintage coffee theme and I love it. It suits my style and is a great way to display some of my favorites.
I’m smitten with balloon garlands and balloon installations and last Valentine’s Day I covered my mantel with a balloon garland and added some vinyl and balloons above it. Super whimsical but super fun and it inspired me to make a fall mantel balloon installation as well.
We must all love chunky knits because my jumbo knitting needles were in the top twenty! The supplies for chunky knits can get pretty expensive so I made jumbo knitting needles out of large dowels and wood beads. They work so well and saved a pile of money!
Did you know you can use iron on heat transfer on wood? I made a sign on wood and used iron on and paper to embellish it. It definitely got my mind reeling for ideas for other mediums to use with heat transfer.
Need a gift for a friend? This aloe vera gift idea has a printable that you include to make a really quick and easy gift.
And finally, I put my magnolia tree {or rather, the leaves} to use and made colorful magnolia place cards that are perfect for any occasion.
It was a fun and crafty year and I’m excited about all I have planned for 2019. What creative projects have you made this year?
