A couple of years ago I bought a wire tiered tray {I can’t remember where I bought it but it’s similar to this wire fruit basket} that I just love. When I moved into my new house, I set it on my vintage kitchen island but it’s been empty for months {with the exception of the fruit and flower centerpiece I made on the fourth of July} while I tried to figure out how I wanted to style it. I recently combined my love of coffee and my love of all things vintage to create a vintage coffee themed tiered tray and I’m loving the character it adds to the kitchen and gathering room … and I love seeing so many of my favorite things gathered in one spot.
To style this tiered tray, I used only items I had around my house and added two small craft projects for a creative and somewhat personalized element.
I gathered things that fit with the coffee theme and played around with the groupings until I liked the way it looked. I added an old silver pot from a tea and coffee service that belonged to my grandmother {I love the contrast of the wrapped handle}, a vintage Thermos or two {one of my favorite things to collect}, vintage jello molds {not coffee themed but they looked good among the other items} …
… a vintage transferware cream and sugar set, and silver heirloom stirring spoons that belonged to my aunt.
In addition to the vintage items, I also added a couple of quick and easy crafts to the tray.
I used a flour sack {these can be found online or at craft or big box stores} to make a coffee-themed towel. I created the file and saved it in Cricut Design Space so you can use it to make a coffee-themed tea towel too. I cut the design from iron on heat transfer using the Cricut Explore Air 2 and used my Cricut EasyPress to adhere it to the flour sack.
I also made a cute little sign. A friend of mine scooped up a bunch of small, ready-made signs from the dollar spot last year and used them as a base to create her own little signs. A genius idea since they were all priced at a dollar. She gave me one from her stash and I painted it then added red vinyl to create a little coffee sign for the tray. I set it on a tiny cupcake stand to add a little height.
I added a burlap garland, a mason jar filled with coffee beans and a candle, a small vintage fruit basket, and two of my favorite mugs {the Anthro mug was a thrifted find for ninety-nine cents!}.
I’ll probably update this tiered tray seasonally but right now I’m loving this coffee-themed tray full of some of my favorite vintage pieces.
And it looks perfect on my distressed vintage kitchen island!
How have you styled a tiered tray?
