2015 was full of fun projects. Yesterday I shared the top twenty-five posts that you all loved the most {based on pageviews} but today I wanted to share some of my favorite projects. In addition to creating some really fun things, 2015 had some really fun professional moments as well. I spoke at a conference {something I love doing}, I met Nate Berkus {a designer I love}, and I flew out to LA to appear on FABLife, where I shared five of my Halloween costumes {and wore fake eyelashes for the first time [grin]}. Let’s take a quick peek at some of the projects that I loved the best, one from each month of the year. Click on the links below to see the full tutorial for each project … and be sure to pin your favorites!
I had a lot of fun cross-stitching on different mediums this year {a chair, reclaimed wood, a pumpkin} but the cross stitch wood heart sign I made for Valentine’s Day was a favorite. I love the contrast of the white yarn against the red background and the simplicity suits my style perfectly. {pin it here}
The string art trend was big in 2015 and I tried my hand at a fun variation, creating a string art initial right on the wall in my daughter’s room. This monogram wall string art is striking against the teal/turquoise wall and looks perfect above her bed. {pin it here}
My Dad and I tackled another #DIYwithDad project this year and built a DIY go kart for Luke. We had a great time building it and the kids have had lots of fun using it on the front street. {pin it here}
One of my favorite projects this year wasn’t actually created by me but I’m claiming it since it started with my playhouse {wink}. Friends took our old playhouse and repurposed it into an amazing DIY chicken coop! The final result is incredible with so many neat details! {pin it here}
This year I started working my way through the stash in my garage and turned an old headboard into a super cute DIY headboard bench. This is such an easy project and perfect for a beginner … and a bright headboard bench couldn’t be cuter. {pin it here}
An old globe got new life around our house as a repurposed globe cloche, a practical and unique way of covering over dishes during outdoor entertaining. This upcycled project is super simple and only requires an old globe and a drawer knob. {pin it here}
Can you tell I have a love for repurposed projects? I acquired a stash of cigar boxes from a friend and transformed one into a cigar box doll house. The best part? It is perfect for on-the-go entertainment which means those waiting rooms and carpool lines don’t have to be quite so boring! {pin it here}
Two thrift store bundt pans got spray painted this year and upcycled into a repurposed bundt pan pumpkin. This simple craft was an eye-catcher and got many compliments from houseguests this fall! {pin it here}
I love little nooks and cozy spots in our house and, a few months ago, I created a simple reading spot upstairs. The corner chair {salvaged from a garbage pile} adds a unique touch to this quaint spot. {pin it here}
I’ve recently been on a quest to clean up my garage. It started with a garage makeover early in the year and is almost finished now. The altered trash can lumber bin that I made from a standard trash can has been one of the simplest but most useful projects I’ve made. It corralled my stash of lumber into one tidy spot and I love it! Now if I can just talk my husband into adding new garage doors, I’ll be happy {wink}! {pin it here}
I love a bit of whimsy and this year we added a colorful Christmas tree to our holiday decor and covered it with DIY repurposed punch balloon ornaments. The tree was a really fun addition to our gameroom and the oversized ornaments added a larger-than-life touch. {pin it here}
And finally, one of my most recent but favorite projects were New Year’s Eve party favors. They contain individual small bottles of champagne and a glass to ring in the new year in style and they’re held closed with a party blower … everything you need to welcome the new year all in one bag! {pin it here}
I’ve already got lots of plans brewing for 2016 and hope you’ll come along for the ride! Thanks so much for pinning and sharing your favorite Dukes and Duchesses projects!
