This post was created as part of the 12 Bloggers of Christmas tour with Balsam Hill.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Although I don’t usually do any Christmas decorating before December, this year is different.  It’s a week before December and I have a colorful Christmas tree all aglow in our gameroom.

Why the early decorating?  I’m one of the 12 Bloggers of Christmas with Balsam Hill!  Each day this week, two of us are sharing our decorated Christmas trees.  They’re all so different and so beautiful and you won’t want to miss any.  Take a peek at my whimsical tree and then take the full Christmas tree tour by clicking the links at the bottom of this post … and be sure to enter the giveaway to get a jump start on your own Christmas decorating!

BH 12 Bloggers of Christmas 2015

We always have a traditional Christmas tree on the main floor of our house, decked out in keepsake ornaments, but this year I wanted to add a second tree to the kids’ space upstairs and make it colorful, playful, and completely different from our other tree.  I chose a White Mount Washington Christmas Tree because I knew it would be a fun, fairy-like base for colorful decorations and would fit seamlessly in with the bright decor in our gameroom.

I topped the tree with a white marquee snowflake, created by disassembling another tree topper and adding the base onto a storebought marquee kit.  The snowflake shape …

In addition to the snowflakes, I added a wintry blue ribbon garland and other ornaments that sparkle, glitter, and shine and add a magical tone to the season.  To set a light-hearted tone and give the tree a bit of a larger than life feel, I also added oversized ornaments made from punch balloons.  {Click on this link for the simple tutorial for the DIY repurposed punch balloon ornaments.}

I’ll be wrapping gifts this year in colors that match our tree …

My kids love their fanciful Christmas tree …

I think I’ll have to carry the colorful Christmas theme throughout all our decor this year!
