I received compensation from BHG at Walmart for my participation in the BHG Live Better Network. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own. #BHGLiveBetter
A couple of months ago, I shared the colorful and fun updates that my gameroom is getting. I’ve been slowly transforming this room from a gigantic {and very messy} play area into a room that we can all enjoy using, with specific areas devoted to specific activities. This past week, I added some fun new touches to the colorful sitting area with affordable products from the BHG at Walmart line … and I’m loving this fun and colorful space!
A number of months ago, I moved all the furniture around in this room and created a geometric painted wall to pull together the sitting area and add a fun feature.
I also added some stylish storage to contain the books and toys in the play area and then decided to add a bit more color to the sitting area.
The main piece of furniture in the sitting area is our twenty year old IKEA couch that I just can’t part with. It fits so well in this room, can handle a lot of wear and tear from the kids, and it adds a bit of pattern and color that I like. We’ve used the blue color in the overall scheme of this room and have added bright orange and green for contrast. It’s bold but I love color and especially in a room that’s supposed to be playful anyway.
This week, I added a small table in front of the couch, adding some color and giving us a place to set drinks and books.
This table is actually a wooden bench that I repurposed as a small coffee table. The size and style of the bench were perfect {simple, straight lines} but I didn’t want to add dark wood to this room so I gave it a quick makeover with a couple of coats of spray paint.
Before I assembled the bench, I painted the top white …
… and painted the legs bright orange for a fun color block look. I love the contrast and the bold color and it fits perfectly in this space! And at $60, it was a very affordable coffee table!
I added a couple of galvanized buckets underneath the table {these galvanized buckets are one of my favorite items and I’ve used them in other gameroom spaces as well as in my front hall closet}. My theory is that the more easy organization I provide, the more likely the kids are to actually clean up. So far it only works in theory {wink}.
I can’t resist cute containers, especially when they have chalkboard labels so I’m adding a few of these ceramic jars throughout the house, including in the gameroom. They’re perfect for holding marbles, dominoes, and all the kids’ craft supplies.
A cozy spot is always better with pillows and these fluffy pillows are favorites. They look cute, add some fun texture, and they look great on the striped couch {and may serve to hide some of the life that’s been added to this couch}. And that pillow in the center? Another thing I’ll never part with. I stitched one of Lila’s earliest drawings onto this pillow and it’s such a delightful keepsake!
We all love the bright and colorful new additions to this area and it’s so fun to see this room slowly coming together. Next on the list? Maybe a bold rug and a few new seats for the art table.
