This week I’ll be sharing the most popular projects of 2016 and the most popular recipes in 2016 but first, I want to share my favorite projects of the year. These aren’t necessarily the projects that got the most pageviews or the most shares on social media but they’re projects that I loved when I made them and still love to this day. I chose one for each month throughout 2016 and if you missed the project or want a refresher on the details, click the link to read through the tutorial … and be sure to pin your favorites!
I started a room makeover for my youngest son and, if all goes well, I may actually finish it in 2017 {wink}. I did complete a few projects including a DIY industrial bedside table that fits perfectly with the rustic industrial style of the room and I love the look it adds to the room. {pin it here}
This year I monogrammed a mug which is definitely nothing new but I monogrammed it with fabric. And, it’s dishwasher safe! I love this fabric monogrammed mug project and I love the possibilities: the fun mugs you could use mixed with bright and bold patterned fabric. There’s no limit to the customized mugs you can make! {pin it here}
My next favorite is not exactly a project but it is a really handy tutorial. Updating an outdoor light fixture can dramatically improve your curb appeal … and it’s so easy to swap out an old light for a new one! I shared the simple tutorial and shared the new light I added outside my back door. {pin it here}
Did you know you can bleach a design on fabric using dish detergent? Add a fun pattern to some ordinary fabric or create a design on cloth napkins like I did. Whatever you choose to do, it’ll be one of a kind! {pin it here}
Hit up the after-Christmas sales for cheap plastic ornaments and repurpose them into DIY herb or succulent terrariums! This project is so easy but one of my very favorites. After all, a whole window full of hanging terrariums looks pretty fantastic! {pin it here}
We spend a lot of time in our pool during the summer months and I love throwing a good pool party. This DIY floating pool tray, made with a tray and a dollar store pool noodle, is such a fun way to serve drinks or snacks to the swimmers! {pin it here}
I also love to grow herbs in the summer, use them fresh all summer long, then dry the rest to use in the winter months. Modeled after a fun product I spotted at my local craft store, I created this colorful DIY herb drying rack using a scrap of wood and hooks and drawer pulls. I love the pop of color and it’s perfect for hanging herbs to dry. {pin it here}
Last summer I attended a conference in Atlanta and sat in on a class led by Matthew Mead. He had a gorgeous tablescape set up with a fabulous twig vase and I made a DIY version as soon as I got home. The rustic look is perfect against gorgeous fresh flowers. {pin it here}
One of my favorite local restaurants uses coasters made from recycled cardboard and branded with their logo. I made my own version branded with my monogram and this project is definitely one of my favorites. They look perfect on a coffee table, absorb condensation, and can be thrown away if they get really tattered. And if they’re not your style, they’d make a really great hostess gift! {pin it here}
My house isn’t decorated entirely in the farmhouse style but I do love to add touches of that style throughout my eclectic and colorful decor. This farmhouse style button garland is draped over a mirror in my dining room and is such a great accent … and, like all my projects, it’s super easy to make! {pin it here}
I love the air plant trend and even more when the air plants are housed in a cute little repurposed vase. These little vases are made out of an old vintage spindle and look super cute by themselves or grouped all together … and one spindle can make piles of vases! {pin it here}
And my final favorite post of the year is a recipe for one of my favorite drinks: a hot Vietnamese latte! I won’t tell you how many of these I drink a day but you can trust that I’m a bit of an expert on this drink {wink}. {pin it here}
I’d love to hear what projects you loved best this year … and those that you made too!
