DIY Floating Pool Tray

Once the kids are on summer break and the temperatures hit the 90’s and 100’s, we spend time in the pool every day.  I’ve seen some really cute floating drink holders {affiliate link} and decided it would be fun to make my own DIY floating pool tray.  It was so easy to make, took only minutes, and is a really fun addition to pool time!

To make a floating pool tray, you’ll need one pool noodle {the dollar store is a great place to find cheap pool noodles} and a cute tray.  The tray can be plastic, galvanized or coated metal, or even wood but make sure water won’t cause any damage since it may get splashed at times.  I chose a colorful, floral plastic tray that looks super cute in the pool!

Using a craft knife, cut the noodle into three even lengths, or, if your tray is shorter than that, trim the noodle into three pieces that are slightly shorter than the length of your tray.

Using E6000 or a similar adhesive, attach the noodle pieces onto the bottom of the tray with two pieces along the outside edges and one in the middle.  Let dry completely.

When the adhesive has dried completely, the tray is ready to use.  Top it with your favorite snacks and drinks …

… and let it float in the pool.  While the tray will rise up and down with waves and splashes, it’s surprisingly stable and ours hasn’t ever tipped over.

This DIY floating pool tray is the perfect accessory for summer swims and pool parties!

What a clever idea! Our next door neighbors have a pool. I might have to whip one up for them. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Can I use this glue to attatch noodles to side of a shallow storage container?

I think it would work. You’d have to test it but I can’t imagine why not.
