Farmhouse Style Button Garland

My home is a very eclectic mix of styles but I do love touches of farmhouse style mixed in with the bright colors and vintage pieces.  When I came across these neutral wooden buttons in different sizes, I knew they’d make a fun button garland to drape over a mirror I have hanging in my dining room, lending a bit of farmhouse style to the room.

To make this simple button garland, I used a roll of natural colored twine and a package of wooden buttons from Holiday Warehouse.  These weathered wood buttons are all different sizes which adds a fun touch of whimsy to the garland but buttons all in one size would look great too.

I cut a long piece of twine and wrapped a piece of tape around the end to prevent it from fraying.  {If you start stringing the garland and realize your twine isn’t long enough, simply tie another piece of twine on, placing the knot behind a button.}

I wove the twine through the button holes, making an X shape on each one.  I left a button width between each button and strung them on, one by one, until I had the length I wanted.

I hung this weathered wood farmhouse style garland over a mirror in my dining room.  This mirror was rescued from a trash pile in my neighborhood, painted, and now adds a pop of color to a narrow wall.

I love the bit of interest and texture that this easy button garland adds … and I’m glad I bought an extra package of buttons because I’m ready to string another garland for the Christmas tree!
