The fall season means numerous trips to the pumpkin patch, the scent of hot apple cider brewing on the stove, cooler days with lots of time spent outdoors, and, around my house {and probably yours too}, it also means football. Lots and lots of football! My boys aren’t picky: whatever game is playing will be blaring on the television, college or professional. We love to have friends over to watch with us, especially on big game days, and everyone wants good food for game-watching. I love football party food too but I also like easy and this easy nacho bar is perfect for a tabletop tailgate spread that can be thrown together in no time at all!
To set up a nacho bar, place a large table in a central location with easy access to game watching {or use your dining room or kitchen table}, set out disposable plates and napkins {we all like easy clean up too, right?}, and let guests prepare their nachos any way they like! If you’re cheering for a particular team, use table coverings, plates, and napkins in team colors, add a garland behind the table, and go all out! A few noisemakers always make it fun for the kids, too! We like little details that add extra fun to the day!
One stop shopping is my favorite. To make entertaining easy, I grab everything I need at my local Walmart, hitting the frozen food aisle for Tyson® Foods that make snack hacks simple and convenient for game day.
Why start from scratch when you can buy Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips, Ball Park® Frozen Pulled Pork, and Jimmy Dean® Roll Sausage, heat them up right before game time and have quick and easy toppings for nachos? They’re the perfect products for a game winning event and always a crowd pleaser! While you’re at Walmart, you can also pick up Hillshire Farm® Cocktail Links, Tyson® Any’tizers® Snacks, and State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs for even more snack hacks!
I like to set out a large variety of other toppings too so there’s something for everyone. Lots of selection always feels more festive for a party.
I like to serve a couple of different styles of tortilla chips, plain and flavored, and a few toppings that take nachos from a hearty snack to a light meal, filling everyone up. I chop the heated chicken strips into large chunks, stir up the heated pulled pork, and cook and crumble the sausage to provide a bit of protein. You can also stir the crumbled sausage into queso for an easy snack hack.
Alongside the main toppings, I like to serve sliced black olives, chopped fresh cilantro …
… shredded Mexican cheese and warm queso blanco …
… diced Roma tomatoes, salsa or pico de gallo, sliced jalapenos and banana peppers, sour cream, and sliced green onions or diced yellow onions.
Place the toppings in small dishes, add a serving utensil to each and let guests gather around the table to serve themselves, topping their nachos any way they like. It’s always fun to see the different combinations people create!
A nacho bar is such a simple way to entertain a crowd of people and the perfect way to entertain a crowd for the big game. And starting with Tyson Foods makes it even easier! {If you really want to make it easy, assign each guest a different topping and set up a potluck nacho bar!}
When the game is over, package up any leftovers for delicious snacking the next day {or throw the extra toppings in a salad for an easy next-day lunch or dinner}.
What do you like to serve for your tabletop tailgate on game day? Be sure to hit Walmart for all your game day preparations and shopping!
