Repurposed Shirt Cuff Coffee Sleeve

Last week I shared a suit jacket cuff coffee sleeve and today I have another fun version for Father’s Day: a repurposed shirt cuff coffee sleeve.  This is a super simple, no-sew project that would be perfect for the kids to make for Dad for Father’s Day.  Add his favorite coffee or a Starbucks gift card and you have a really easy gift that will also prompt sweet memories of the kids.

To make this coffee cuff, you’ll need an old button-down shirt from the thrift store {or choose one that’s seen better days from your own closet} and a standard coffee cup for measuring the size.

Using fabric scissors, cut the cuff off the shirt, trimming right along the edge of the cuff without cutting in to that finished edge.

If the shirt has two different buttons and sizes, you’ll likely need to use the loosest size so it’ll fit the cup.  Do the button up then use hot glue to secure the flap in place {you could also use the sewing machine to stitch it in place, if desired}.

how to make shirt cuff coffee sleeve

Keeping the buttons in the front center, trim the back of the coffee sleeve.  The easiest way to do this is to wrap the cuff around the cup, inside out, and trim the back edges to match the angle or slope of the cup.

Keeping it inside out {with right sides together}, use hot glue to create the back seam.  Again, you can also stitch that seam on the sewing machine, if desired.

Turn the cuff right side out and slip it onto the cup, with the buttons facing the front.

This shirt cuff coffee sleeve takes just minutes to make and is a really fun, handmade, personalized gift.  If Dad’s not a coffee drinker, pin this idea for a teacher gift!

Cool idea! I’m not a hot beverage drinker myself, but I know lots who are. And I have tons of button down shirts that I’ve disassembled to craft with 🙂

I love it! What a creative way to repurpose old shirts! And these would be fun handmade gifts- because handmade is always special, you know. 🙂

This is so cute! I have a million old shirts gathering dust that I might just repurpose for some of these cuffs!

You should totally share this on my next link party! It goes live tomorrow at 6!
