Chocolate Cherry Brownie Crockpot Dump Cake

My fruity dump cake recipe {from LONG ago} has been so popular that I was inspired to try another version, this time in the crockpot.  This rich and delicious chocolate cherry brownie crockpot dump cake {phew, that’s a mouthful} is almost too easy to be a recipe … which is the best kind.  Throw it in the crockpot in the afternoon and serve it warm right after dinner … your family will be so impressed!

To make this crockpot dump cake, you’ll need a brownie mix {I like one that includes chocolate chips but if yours doesn’t, you can always toss in 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips}, two cans of cherry pie filling, and 1/2 cup butter.

ingredients for crockpot dump cake

Spray the crockpot with non-stick spray then pour in both cans of cherry pie filling, sprinkle the dry cake mix on top, and sprinkle with the butter, cut into small pieces.

Cook on Low for 2 1/2 hours then turn to Warm until ready to serve.  The longer you leave it in the crockpot, the crispier it’ll get around the edges {my favorite}.

Spoon into bowls and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream {which will promptly melt into a delicious, creamy pool on top of the dump cake}.

This dessert is quite rich so smaller portions are a great way to start … and a glass of milk or a cup of coffee is the perfect accompaniment.

Enjoy this simple dessert that’s part cake, part brownie … and then experiment with your own flavor combinations for a custom version!

That. Looks. Awesome. Maybe because I’m on week 2 of a diet, or maybe because it makes me feel nostalgic for the chocolate cherry birthday cakes my mom used to bake for me, but when I saw the picture I had to click to get the recipe! I’m pinning it for later (when hubby and I aren’t dieting!)

This sounds amazing… How many servings is this recipe? Can you double it for a large crock pot?

    Thank you,
    Judi

You could definitely double it but just watch the cooking time to make sure it cooks completely. I’d say it serves 8 people.

I am not sure where I found this. I was just prowling the internet and this dump came up! I had to find it while on a diet to lose 20 lbs. I guess this will be my reward when the pounds are gone!
