Dump Cake {The Easiest Dessert Ever}

This dump cake recipe is one that you may already have in your recipe box but just in case you don’t, I have to share it here.  It’s truly the easiest dessert ever, has very few ingredients, and is so delicious!  Plus, you can customize it with your favorite fruit and give it a twist that your family will love.  The best part?  There’s a really good chance you already have all the ingredients in your pantry … so you can be eating this fabulous dessert in less than an hour!

In addition to the ingredients you’ll need, make sure you’ve also got a container of vanilla ice cream in the freezer … because a scoop of ice cream melting on this warm dessert is simply the best!

Dump Cake
1 large can of pie filling {my favorite is peach}
1 large can of pineapple chunks or crushed pineapple
1 boxed yellow cake mix
cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray.
Spread the pie filling in the bottom of the pan.  Cover it with crushed pineapple.  Sprinkle the cake mix over all of it.  Give it a little dash of cinnamon.  Dot with butter.
Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.

Serve warm.  Or cold.  Your choice.  And if you’re eating leftovers, you can always warm it up quickly in the microwave.  It’s just as good the second day as the first but just be sure to store any extras in the refrigerator.
Variations: The pie filling and fruit can be replaced with anything similar.  You can use 2 cans of pie filling instead of mixing it with fruit, you can use 2 cans of undrained fruit in heavy syrup, you can use 1 can of pie filling and 1 can of any type of fruit … just mix it up however you want to suit your mood that day.  There’s really no bad version.

    Mine almost burned. By 25 minutes it was overcooked. Should the oven temp be 375 instead of 475 for 45 minutes?

      What a time to have a typo … I’m SO sorry! Yes, it’s 375. I just corrected the recipe.

    OMG!I think this is the recipe that my mom used to make all the time…it was made with fruit cocktail and she had me make the batter all the time but I really don’t remember the rest. Her recipes were always in ‘her head’ or a bit of this and a bit of that!Got to give it a try…TFS

    I like to make “brownies” for my kids using crushed pineapple and bran muffin mix. One can of fruit, mix in the muffin stuff and bake in any pan for 25-35 min at 350. Tasty and oh so good for you! Considering that you only really need some form of liquid to use a pre-mixed package of any kind of baked good, you could mix cake mixes, muffin mixes or cookie mixes with any kind of canned fruit or fruit juice instead of oil, eggs and water. Chocolate cake mix with cherry pie filling is another favorite of mine.

      No. If it seems like it has a ton of liquid, I sometimes pour off just a bit, but usually I pour it all in.
