Sometimes the smallest, easiest projects are really the best, aren’t they? Yesterday I was flipping through a Paper Source catalog when I saw the cutest cannister for holding tea. It had some fun text on it and I instantly dug out my Cricut machine and made this tea lovers mug with the same saying. The whole project took less than ten minutes to make!
I prepared the text on Cricut Design Space using a cursive font and then decreased the space between the letter until they were joined.
I cut the text out of adhesive gold foil, removed all the parts I didn’t want …
… and then attached the text to a white dollar store mug using transfer tape {because the foil is so thin, be very careful when applying and removing the transfer tape}. Left like this, the mug is obviously not dishwasher safe and will have to be handwashed. I’m probably going to cover the vinyl with dishwasher safe mod podge and let it cure. If I have to hand wash a mug every time I use it, it’s going to quickly find a spot in the back of the cupboard {wink}. You can relate, can’t you?
This simple mug idea would make such a cute gift for anyone who loves tea. Fill it with some herbal tea bags or small tea infuser and loose tea and add a small jar of flavored honey or honey sticks and some cute stirring spoons for a sweet, personal gift that’s also useful … which is the best kind, right?
