Colorful Christmas Party

I love holiday entertaining and, from the time my oldest kids were small, I’ve loved hosting Christmas parties for the kids.  This week, I hosted a colorful little Christmas party for Tate and the playgroup girls.  I planned the party around some bright colored Christmas balls found in Target’s Dollar Spot and added a few simple details to make it personal.

Colorful Christmas Table Decorations

I decided to skip the traditional Christmas colors and use bright jewel tones.

The table was set in layers with a white tablecloth, a runner of bright pink polka dot fabric, a narrower runner of festive wrapping paper {also found in the Dollar Spot}, and silver snowflake table confetti.

Easy Holiday Centerpiece Idea

I used the inspiration ornaments in the centerpiece, filling glass vases with them, and adding a bright blue container filled with “snow”, and a cloche full of pink and blue candy canes.

Each place was set with a silver charger embellished with “fa la la” in green vinyl {made with my cutting machine} …

How to Make Ornament Drinking Glasses

I couldn’t resist serving drinks in little DIY Christmas ornament cups.

I read that Michael’s carries flat-bottomed plastic ornaments but I couldn’t find them so I used a dab of hot glue to affix plastic ornaments into silver cupcake wrappers so the cups wouldn’t roll away.

I removed the top and glued a bit of bright ribbon around the top.

The girls drank pink milk through bright green straws.

In lieu of place cards, I used green vinyl to mark each cup with the initials of the guests.

And no party is complete without a pink sequined Santa hat, right?  The girls looked so cute wearing their little hats and it made a fun take-home favor at the end.

Since the party was held in the morning, we skipped sweets and set up a yogurt bar: vanilla yogurt with blueberries, raspberries, granola, and mini chocolate chips.

Tate had a great time playing with her friends and I loved watching her socialize and have fun.  It was a fun memory for the Christmas season!

Too adorable! I am totally stealing your idea for using glass ornaments as cups! Love it!

Love your idea for ornament drinking glasses…. Here is what I do to make the ornaments stand by themselves…. Get a hot glue pad & put a small blob of hot glue on it… Place your ornament in hot glue & press…. Let sit to dry…. In a few minutes you can lift off & have a perfect little base & your ornament won’t tip over…..
