Strawberry Valentine’s Day Freakshake

I’m a bit smitten with the freakshake milkshake trend and I thought it would be fun to make a Valentine’s Day freakshake.  Grab your main squeeze and whip up this shake {or your sweet version of it}, add two straws, and share a fun treat with your valentine!  {Want a healthier version of the freakshake?  Check out this freakshake style extreme smoothie!}

It’s easiest to prepare the toppings first so the milkshake doesn’t melt while you’re making the embellishments.  Once you have those ready {check out my ideas below}, whip up the milkshake in the blender.  For a large milkshake that’s enough for two to share, add

1 cup vanilla ice cream

1 cup milk

1 cup fresh strawberries with the hulls removed

and blend until all ingredients are combined.  Add more milk or ice cream if the mixture is thinner or thicker than you want.

Pour the milkshake into a large mason jar or glass and then start topping with all your favorite holiday treats!

Start by topping the milkshake with lots of whipped cream then drizzle lightly with chocolate syrup and strawberry syrup.

Add lip-shaped lollipops, skewers of mini valentine-themed or red velvet cupcakes, skewers of fresh strawberries and raspberries, skewers of chocolates, and skewers of heart-shaped peeps or other heart-shaped candy.

Wander the candy or seasonal aisle to find your favorite holiday items and stack them all on top.  The more extreme, the better in the freakshake world!
