I love baking homemade treats for my dog.  And based on the popularity of the dog recipes on my site, I know you love spoiling your puppy too!  I’ve shared a recipe for a birthday cake for dogs in the past but I decided to change it up just a bit and make a pupcake recipe for dogs … because what dog doesn’t love a little two-bite cake treat?  Whether you’re celebrating your dog’s birthday, making a gift for a friend’s pup, or just spoiling your furry friend for no reason, these pupcakes are just the thing!

Pupcake recipe for dogs

To make this pupcake recipe for your dog, you’ll need

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup liverwurst

4 1/2 ounces beef, chicken, or turkey baby food, and

4 eggs.

{As with any recipe for your pet, check with your vet before introducing any food into your pet’s diet.}

Ingredients for pupcake recipe for dogs

With an electric mixer, combine all the ingredients until well blended.

Spray a muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray and fill the cups 2/3 to 3/4 full with the blended ingredients.

Bake at 325 degrees for 23-28 minutes or until cooked through.

The cooking time will depend on the size of the muffin tin you’re using.

Beef pupcakes for dogs

Pop the pupcakes out and allow them to cool completely before serving to your dog.  {This might be the trickiest part because if your dog is anything like mine, the smell of baking pupcakes will have the pup’s mouth watering well before they’re ready to serve!}

Heart shaped pupcakes for dogs

Store the leftover pupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator to avoid spoiling.

If you’re an over the top dog lover, be sure to pop over to check out the fun and whimsical printable I made to top these cupcakes!
