Yesterday I shared my puppy’s first birthday party and promised you I’d share this easy dog birthday cake recipe.  I didn’t taste it {smile} but I can swear to you it was a huge success … Molly was trying to get it the minute it came out of the oven!  She had no doubt in her mind that this cake was for her!  It was the perfect centerpiece at our party and a welcome treat for the pups being celebrated.

 Once baked, the cake can be embellished or personalized any way you like.  I cut a number one {to celebrate a first birthday} out of a cheese slice but you could also cut out the dog’s name or a cute shape like a bone or a puppy shape.

Ready to get baking this easy cake recipe?

Birthday Cake for Dogs

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup cooking oil

1/2 cup liverwurst

4 1/2 ounces beef baby food

4 large eggs

4 pieces beef jerky snack for dogs, broken into pieces

cheese for garnish

{As with any recipe for your pet, check with your vet before introducing any food into your pet’s diet.}

Combine the flour and baking powder in large bowl.  Set aside.

Beat the cooking oil, liverwurst, baby food, and eggs together in medium bowl until smooth and completely mixed.

Fold in the beef jerky snack.  Add to the flour mixture.  Stir.  Spread the batter in a greased, foil-lined 8-inch round pan.  Bake in a 325 degree oven for about 50 minutes until cooked through.  Allow to cool completely.

Decorate with cheese and serve to your dog!  I can guarantee this birthday cake will make your pup one happy canine!

Would you ever bake a dog birthday cake?

    Adorable!! My son was once tricked into eating ‘cookies’ at a friends house…turned out the cookies were dog cookies/biscuits! My son told me they actually tasted pretty good though – lol!! Boys!!! 😀
