Do you give gifts to your neighbors during the holiday season? I love to give a little something to the people that live around me and a food gift is always appropriate. Infused orange cinnamon honey is a quick and easy idea, it can be packaged in small jars for gifts or party favors, and it’s the perfect idea for a tea lover! Just pair it with a cute handmade tea mug, add a package of favorite herbal tea, and you have a sweet {excuse the pun} and personal gift!
To make orange cinnamon honey, for each jar you’ll need storebought honey {the amount you’ll need will depend on the size of the jar you’re using}, one orange {you’ll only use the peel so the rest of the orange can be eaten or saved for another recipe}, and one cinnamon stick.
Use a lemon zester with a channel knife to create a long strip of orange peel. Just carefully move the tool all around the orange from top to bottom.
Don’t panic if the strip breaks … you can always add more than one piece of orange peel to the honey.
Pour the honey into a jar leaving a bit of room at the top so the honey doesn’t overflow when you add the other ingredients.
Add the cinnamon stick and orange peel to the honey. The easiest way to do this is to wrap the orange peel around the cinnamon stick and push it into the honey, using a knife, if needed.
Add more honey to fill the jar to the top and place the lid tightly on the jar.
To add a decorative touch for gift giving, place a patterned cupcake wrapper over the top of the jar and tie it with a piece of ribbon or ric rac.
The orange and cinnamon flavors will infuse into the honey as it sits, adding delightful notes to regular honey. This honey is so good stirred into tea and definitely takes a peanut butter sandwich up a notch!

Does the honey have to be used within a certain time (will the liquid in the orange peel contaminate the honey)?
Honey can last for a LONG time if stored properly. It can crystalize if the temperature isn’t right but honey will usually last for more than a year in a pantry.
