Tate is in kindergarten this year so my mind has been racing with fun valentine ideas for the big day. Two of my kids have outgrown class parties and two are on the verge of not enjoying cheesy homemade valentines so I’m milking this kindergarten year for all it’s worth {wink}. These finger paint valentines are so cute and they provide a little fun for the kids when the class party is over!
You can buy finger paint for this valentine but it’s super easy {and quite quick} to make your own. In a saucepan, stir together 1/2 cup corn starch and 2 cups cold water {be sure the water is cold or the corn starch won’t mix well}. Stir in 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until the mixture has thickened. Be warned: once it starts to thicken it will thicken quickly and may end up clumpy if you’re not watching it. Remove from the heat and stir in food coloring until the desired shade is reached.
{One batch of finger paint will fill 10-15 small paint pots so double or triple the recipe depending on your need.}
When the finger paint has cooled completely, pour it into small paint pots {affiliate link} …
… and print out these cute {finger} paint the town red labels.
Place one or two paint pots in a cellophane bag and attach a label with ribbon or tulle. So easy! It’ll take you less than thirty minutes to make enough for the whole class and the younger kids will love this finger paint valentine!
