I haven’t always loved Valentine’s Day but I love it much more now that I have kids.  To me, there’s something so fun about making and exchanging handmade valentine cards.  If you’re like me and you’re already thinking about February 14th, I have a really cute and simple handmade chalkboard valentine and printable for you.  And the best part for those health conscious parents?  It’s candy free!

Supplies to Make Chalkboard Valentines

To make these cute washi tape-embellished chalkboard valentines, you’ll need one small framed chalkboard for each recipient, love-themed or pink or red washi tape, chalk, ribbon or tulle, and printable tags {scroll down for the link for the tag}.

How to Make Chalkboard Valentines

Cover the wooden frame around the chalkboard in strips of washi tape {I used a small craft knife and mitered the corners to match the lines of the frame}.

Use another short piece of washi tape to attach a piece of chalk to the side of the chalkboard.

Click on the link to open the board without you label printable and print them out on your home computer.  Trim around the labels and make a small hole in the top of each one.

Tie the board with a piece of ribbon or tulle and add the printable then tie a bow or a knot on top of the printable.

These chalkboard valentines couldn’t be easier to make {it would take no time at all to whip up enough for the whole class} and they’re so cute!  And what young kiddo doesn’t love to draw on their own little chalkboard?
