DIY Citrus Fresh Kitchen Spray

Christmas is over, the decorations are put away {I turned my kids into a slave labor force yesterday and got everything back in the attic}, and it’s time to get organized.  Are you in the same cleaning and organization mode I’m in?  The new year always urges me to get a fresh start in my home and a fresh start means fresh smells.  I have a super simple DIY citrus fresh kitchen spray to share with you {and a fun giveaway to get the year smelling right}!

citrus fresh kitchen spray

This citrus fresh kitchen spray is a great way to add a fresh scent to the air and get rid of stale cooking odors {no one likes lingering fish and onion smells, right?}.  To make it, you’ll need distilled water, epsom salts, citrus fresh essential oil, and, if desired, purification essential oil {not pictured}.  You’ll also need glass spray bottles.  These cobalt glass bottles {affiliate link} are not only pretty but the dark color prevents oils from breaking down.

ingredients for citrus fresh kitchen spray

Add a pinch of epsom salts to the bottom of the bottle.  Add five drops of citrus fresh essential oil and five drops of purification essential oil {the salt will absorb the oil and allow it to mix better with the water}.  Fill the bottle with distilled water, replace the lid, and give it a little shake to mix.

Finish by applying a cute label {you can download these citrus fresh kitchen spray printable labels and print them on sticker paper or print them on regular paper and glue them to the bottle}.

Super easy and you have a light, citrus-y spray perfect for freshening up the aroma in the kitchen {or any room, really}.

Would this work with any essential oil? I was thinking a tea rose would be soothing.

I have lavender essential oil and I love it. I’ve been experimenting with making body butter and I’d love to try the citrus – oh wow!

Yes, I have used essential oils before. Among a few have been eucalyptus, tea tree oil, lemon oil, lavender…

I haven’t used Young Living’s essential oils before, but I do use essential oils (Aura Cacia, Mountain Rose Herbs, and Erbavera) quite regularly. Citrus is one of my favorites! 🙂

This is so great! I started to clean things naturally in my home and the hard part is scenting the home b/c is there really a natural way to do that? I am going to try this out. I would love for you to share this on my blog for Crafty Chaos Tuesdays! Thanks for sharing.

I have not used essential oils before. My kids were recently sick and my cousin that uses oils made them a chest and sleep rub. It worked great! Now I am on a mission to learn more and more!!

I have used some essential oils. I use peppermint oil for nausea, and I add lemon and lavender oils to cleaning products. I’d like to use more, especially the ones with health benefits.
