Homemade valentines are one of my favorite things and even better when they’re useful.  This handmade heart soap valentine is not only cute but also practical … after all, what kid couldn’t use a little extra hand scrubbing or tub time {wink}?

To make the soap, you’ll need to buy melt and pour glycerin soap {affiliate link} at the craft store.  It comes in huge blocks and you simply cut it into chunks and melt it in short increments in the microwave until it reaches a liquid state.

Start by making the small hearts that will go inside the larger piece of soap.  Melt a cup or two of soap chunks …

… then pour into small heart molds.  I used silicon ice cube molds {purchased at this affiliate link or found at IKEA or sometimes the dollar store}.

Once the soap has hardened {usually in less than ten minutes}, pop the hearts out of the mold.

Melt another batch of glycerin and leave it clear.  Pour the melted soap into greased muffin tins {use vegetable spray or coconut oil and coat them well or you won’t be able to pop the soap out when it hardens} and gently place a heart soap face down into the center of each one.

Don’t worry too much about bubbles unless you have a lot of excess and then you can carefully lift the bubbles off the surface with a spoon.

Let the soap harden completely then pop them out of the tins.  You may have to use a knife to loosen the edges but if you’ve greased the tins well, they’ll come out quite easily.

The soap will look adorable with a red soapy heart right in the middle of the clear soap.

To finish the valentine, download the printable soap tags, trim around the heart …
