Have you got a garage full of wood scraps like I do? My lumber bin is full of them and I’m always looking for quick and easy projects that can use up some of those scraps. This DIY wood photo block project is perfect! It’s so simple to make, requires only basic power tools, and it’s a really cute way to display your favorite photos!
To make these wood photo blocks, you’ll need pieces of 2×4 cut to varied heights {I cut mine about four inches high and six inches high}, paint in colors of your choice, and coordinating adhesive vinyl.
Sand the blocks down to get rid of rough edges then, using a table saw set to about a half inch height, cut a slot in the top of each block.
Paint the blocks as desired. I taped off part of the blocks and painted them in a color block style but you could paint them completely, stain them, dye them, or leave them in the natural state.
Using a cutting machine, cut cute words or phrases from adhesive vinyl and adhere the text to the front of the blocks. If you plan to set the photo blocks together, a mix of fonts gives a fun look.
Place your favorite photos into the slots on top of the blocks …
… and set them in your favorite room.
These photo blocks make it so easy to change photos whenever you want so you can update for different seasons of time or seasons of life. Make them to match your room decor and add different phrases to suit your style!
