This carrot patch Easter basket post contains affiliate links.

I’ve never made themed Easter baskets for my kids before but this year I decided it might be fun to try this carrot patch Easter basket idea!  I love the carrot crafts and ideas that pop up at Easter and I’m already on the bandwagon this year with the upcycled carrot party favor boxes and paper carrot cupcake toppers that I made.  This Easter basket fits right in!

To make these carrot patch Easter baskets, I used a bunch of cute supplies ordered from Oriental Trading.  This year is the perfect time to order your Easter goodies online and have them delivered right to your doorstep.  And Oriental Trading has a huge selection with everything you need for one stop Easter shopping.

Supplies for Carrot Patch Easter Baskets

I bought two different kinds of carrot Easter eggs, orange rock candy lollipops, carrot chocolates, bunny lollipops, and green chenille stems or pipecleaners.

How to Make DIY Rock Candy Carrot Lollipops

You can use all the storebought items alone, or to add a bit more variety to the basket, you can make your own DIY rock candy carrot lollipops.

To make them, you can either leave the rock candy lollipops wrapped, or take off the plastic covering {if your area is humid, they may get pretty sticky if you unwrap them}.

Using one green pipe cleaner for each carrot, cut the pipe cleaner in half, fold the two pieces in the middle, and wrap the middle around the lollipop stick.  Let the ends flare in any direction.

How to Make a Carrot Patch Easter Basket

Use a traditional Easter basket or find a cute basket or pail to use.

Fill the bottom with a few inches of brown paper filler.  You want it to look like dirt in a garden.

Brown filler may be hard to find but I made my own with cardstock and a shredder and that was a quick and easy solution.  You could also cut pieces by hand, if needed.

It would also be really fun to fill the bottom of the basket with a few inches of dark brown candies but that would also be a lot more expensive.

Stuff the carrot shaped Easter eggs with any favorite candy or treats then prop them upright in the basket, using the paper fill to hold them in place.

Add the rock candy lollipops and carrot themed chocolates into spaces …

… and stick a candy bunny lollipop somewhere in the middle {because no carrot patch is complete without a pesky rabbit}.

You obviously can add any other details you want {a little carrot patch sign would be adorable} …

… and you have a really sweet themed basket for the kids.

It would also make a cute Easter gift idea for a neighbor or a friend.
