Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Oriental Trading provided product for this ugly sweater Christmas party but all thoughts and opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

My older kids are throwing an ugly Christmas sweater party this year and we’ve had so much fun planning all the tacky details!  You can find so many ugly sweater products online or at Oriental Trading and I added a few DIY ideas to give this party our own personal touch.

Teens aren’t picky when it comes to food so we’re keeping it easy with a simple buffet of finger food {chips and pretzels} and cupcakes {store bought to keep it super simple}.

Store bought treats are my key to easy holiday entertaining.  It makes it simple to have friends over and keeps the focus on enjoying the company instead of getting stressed out over the preparations.

These adorable cupcake wrappers and cupcake toppers are the perfect way to dress up cupcakes and I love the way the way they make this simple dessert the star of the show.

We’re serving soda in milk bottles and I embellished red and white snowflake paper straws with ugly sweater straw toppers.  I used stickers and attached them to each other with a straw in the middle.  It was so easy and took just minutes but looks super cute!

Guests will serve themselves on ugly sweater plates and napkins.  I love that the plates aren’t just printed with an ugly sweater but they’re actually shaped like a sweater!

Teens don’t need much entertainment at a party but a photo booth is always fun especially in this age of snapchat!

These ugly sweater photo booth props are the best and make it so simple to set up a booth.  I made a wrapping paper garland and photo booth backdrop to add some color and texture to the party {it’s so cheap and easy to make!}.

These props have a great variety so guests can ham it up in front of the camera and capture lots of fun memories {and a few good blackmail shots for social media!}.

One of my favorite parts of our party are the ugly Christmas sweater awards!

We added the stickers ourselves so we could pick and choose the categories we wanted …

… and I created a printable poll for voting.  Guests will vote on all the categories and we’ll tally up the votes at the end of the night and send guests home with their trophies.

And if friends show up without an ugly sweater?  No problem!  We’ve got a cardboard prop so even sweater-less guests can get in on the action {smile}!

Along with their trophies, guests will also go home with these cute ugly sweater favor boxes that’ll be filled with one of our favorite Christmas snack mixes!

An ugly Christmas sweater party is such a fun way to host friends during the holiday season.  Hit up the thrift store for tacky sweaters, invite your friends, and get creative with the details for a memorable evening of fun!
