Did you check out my colorful and tacky ugly Christmas sweater party yesterday? I set up the buffet and photo booth with a wrapping paper garland and backdrop and I wanted to show you how I made it. It’s so easy, inexpensive {you probably already have the supplies you need}, and adds color and pattern to your party with very little work!
Dig into your stash of wrapping paper {or hit up the dollar store for a few rolls} and find two or three rolls that coordinate well together or coordinate well with the party theme. You could also do all one color for a more monotone look if you want something with a more bit more elegance.
Cut strips of wrapping paper, making them different widths while keeping them all the same length. The different widths keeps the backdrop from looking too uniform.
If your wrapping paper has grid marks on the back then you’ve really scored because that makes it so easy! Leaving an uncut area along the top, use scissors to cut a fringe all along the wrapping paper. If the paper has a grid, follow those lines to keep the cuts straight.
I cut some strips with a wide fringe and some with a more narrow fringe just to mix it up a bit.
Use tape to hang the strips on the wall or on a board, overlapping them a bit. I hung some very evenly and hung some more staggered because I wanted a bit of a whimsical look to it.
A wrapping paper garland looks so cute behind a food buffet at a party …
… and it’s an easy way to make a festive backdrop for a photo booth!

This is such a nice idea and colorful. I love the idea of using it as a back drop.

What a clever idea, and fun way to get some festive pictures.
