Snowman Bread Gift Idea

Since we don’t have snow his year, and rarely get it here in Texas, we made another type of snowman instead.  This Texas snowman bread gift idea was a fun winter project to make with the kids and we can’t wait to deliver these snowman loaves to our neighbors!

These snowmen are actually really easy to make!

How to Make Snowman Bread

To make these edible snowmen, we made a batch of bread dough {you can find a basic yeast bread recipe online and follow those instructions}.

We followed the bread recipe process through the kneading and rising then divided the bread dough up into smaller pieces.

We made a ball for each head and a slightly larger ball for the body and laid them next to each other on a greased baking sheet, pressing the head into the body a bit.

We added raisins and apricot pieces for the eyes, nose, and buttons, but you can customize it any way you want, using fruit or even candy for the accessories.  Just be sure you choose a candy that won’t fully melt in the oven.

Once decorated, we baked the snowmen according to the recipe instructions and kept an eye on them, adjusting the baking time as needed for the size of the snowmen.

We let the snowman bread cool then added a colorful ribbon scarf to each one.

Later, we’ll place them in cellophane bags, add a ribbon and a tag, and deliver these cute little snowmen to all of our neighbors.

Someone commented that they look like little snowmen with suntans and I have to agree!

The kids loved creating these gifts and it was a fun way to spend some time in the kitchen with the kiddos during the holiday season.

From the previous comment, “Snowmen with suntans” — haha! Randi, you are so creative, and those are too cute! I’m sure your neighnors will love them. I would also like the recipe if you’re passing it around.

Oh I love those. So cute. But, if you want snow, come on up. It melted, and now today is one snowy day. After 8 inches today I’ll be sick of it. Sending it your way to melt!

What a great idea. I feel like I need to come and learn how to be more creative and thoughtful from you…maybe I will move in for awhile and you can tutor me 😉

I would also take the recipe if you are handing it out.
