School Organization :: Chalkboard Homework Caddy

I don’t know about you but I don’t love homework time with my twins.  They’re both great students but doing homework after a long day at school can sometimes be like pulling teeth.  It’s even worse when the kids are wasting time looking for supplies so I decided to tackle some school organization and put everything together in a chalkboard homework caddy that can be pulled out during homework time.

chalkboard homework caddy

I gathered up small mason jars to hold everything within the homework caddy, along with supplies that the kids use almost every day {pencil crayons, pencils, notebook paper, glue sticks, crayons, and a pencil sharpener}.

I recycled a chalkboard caddy that I had from another project but you could use any type of container or planter and give it a coat or two of chalkboard paint.

I added encouraging words to each side …

… and plan to change the words out with holidays or different things going on at school.  It will even work as a spot for reminders for the kids.

Once I added the school supplies to the mason jars …

… I set it all in the chalkboard homework caddy and we now have a simple way to make school organization a bit simpler.  The box can be pulled out of the cupboard at homework time and everything the kids need will be within arm’s reach.  And can I hope that actually doing will also be simple? {smile}

    I think I may need one of these for myself 😉 I love anything that has to do with pencils, pens and paper!

    I need to make one of these for my craft desk, but with a handle so I can take it with me all over the house. 😉
