Last night our kids had our annual visit from our neighborhood Santa Claus and afterwards we had a fun little treat to celebrate: reindeer hot cocoa. I love the way this simple treat turned out and it’s really simple to throw together even if time is limited.
To make reindeer hot cocoa, you’ll need styrofoam or regular mugs, large pretzel twists, chocolate or candy melt, jumbo marshmallows, red cinnamon candies, and edible eyes.
The most finicky part is the antler application. I broke the large pretzels in half to look like antlers then used candy melt to stick them to the edges of the cups. I did one antler at a time and propped them up in the freezer so they’d stick quickly. Propping them up in the proper position is a bit finicky but once they’re stuck you’re set.
To make the reindeer faces, I used a jumbo marshmallow and stuck the edible eyes and a cinnamon candy nose on with a dab of candy melt. Unlike this photo, you need to make the reindeer face on the side of the marshmallow {see below} otherwise the marshmallow just tips and the face goes underwater. A drowning Rudolph never makes for a merry Christmas {wink}.
Fill the cup up with cocoa …
… and pop the marshmallow reindeer face in.
There you have it: reindeer hot cocoa!
Isn’t that cute and easy? Let me know if you make some for your kiddos this holiday season!

LOVE!!! I have a hot cocoa date with Riley as one of our activities for our Christmas Countdown. She’d love this. Riley is also 3 and still has a hard time with Santa too. She loves him from afar, but isn’t so keen on him up close.
