The Christmas after I got married, I was given a bread machine. They were so popular at that time and everyone I knew had one! I loved that thing and baked fresh bread all the time. After one of our moves, most of the buttons on the machine stopped working but I could still use it on the basic setting and I did. I used that bread machine for about sixteen years before it finally died completely. A few weeks ago, I got a new bread machine and I’m happily baking fresh bread once again and experimenting with some fun flavors and ideas. This peanut butter bread recipe with peanut butter glaze is delicious and I have to share the recipe with you!
To make this peanut butter bread recipe for the bread machine, you’ll need warm water, white bread flour, brown sugar, salt, peanut butter, and active dry yeast. You’ll also need a bit more peanut butter, powdered sugar, and water to make the glaze that goes on after baking.
{Ingredient measurements and full instructions can be found in the printable recipe card below.}
Bake the bread in the bread machine, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
While the bread is cooling, prepare the glaze, if you plan to use it.
When the bread has cooled completely, drizzle it with the glaze.
All that’s left is to grab a glass of milk and enjoy a slice of warm bread.
Add a little smear of peanut butter or cream cheese or a little bit of jelly, if desired. And toasted? This bread is amazing {just skip the glaze if you plan to toast it}.
This simple bread machine recipe is a favorite around our house and makes a delicious breakfast or snack. If you want to get really adventurous and start the day with something special, try using it to make french toast!

This looks so good Randi! Do you think the recipe would stay the same for a regular oven? I am bread machine-less. 😉

Looks fabulous. pinned. found the recipe at the link party. [email protected]

I predict this bread would last for about 5 minutes in my house. So tempting!
Barb says
Sounds delicious!
Sarah says
Do you know what size loaf this is? New to the bread making world & this sounds yummy?
Randi Dukes says
It’s a 2 pound loaf. Sorry – I should have said that!
Kate says
Did you use an all natural peanut butter (aka just peanuts) or a Kraft or Jiffy type peanut butter that has icing sugar and replacement oils in it?
Randi Dukes says
I just used regular peanut butter – Jif, I believe.

I just made this tonight for my husband and 3 sons! They LOVED it! I would like to know how this Recipe could be adapted into mini loaves baked in the oven. I’d love some small ones to freeze and have for a later date!
Sharon says
You could take it out before it bakes and seperate it out into a muffin pan. Let it rise and then bake it. That’s one option.

Hi Randi. My husband is a peanut butter lover and I think he would love this bread! I’m wondering though, when do you put the peanut butter in the machine – before or after the flour and dry ingredients? I don’t have much experience with bread machines and my manufacturer doesn’t say anything about when to add peanut butter. Thanks so much for your help!
Randi Dukes says
Put it in right on top of the flour … that worked well for me.

If you have a sweet read setting , where you can add radians, cranberries, ECT.
I believe it needs the dough first then at 17 mins, allows you put you ingredients in. But don’t turn it off. Let it keep running. I put frozen shredded cheese in mine. As that is what it calls for when making a cheese loaf plus I add minced garlic in th bottom with the liquid
So I end up with garlic cheese bread …..Delicious!!!

🙂 was looking for a bread machine recipe as I didnt want to put in too much effort BUT wanted to make something delicious for my special man to snack on. Peanut Butter in mind, I found this. I made it, it turned out gorgeous, perfectly smooth, golden brown. He tried it and LOVED it. Would be great to make french toast with this, fried banana sandwiches, or even just add some jelly and your set. GREAT RECIPE! the next day, the bread is still wonderfully moist. Highly recommend trying and it was so simple.
Randi Dukes says
I’m so glad it turned out so well! Thanks so much for letting me know!
April says
Wouldn’t this be more of a sweet bread? Or does it do good on the basic loaf setting?
Randi Dukes says
It’s not overly sweet and does really well on the regular setting.

Is the brown sugar your recipe calls for packed like the kind you buy in light or sark, or can I use natural sugar which is also brown, but more like granulated. Also, have you tried this recipe with “chunky” or “crunchy” peanut butter? That’s the only kind we currently have on hand and I’m dying to try this!
Randi Dukes says
It is packed and light or dark will work. I think the natural sugar will change the taste a bit but you could definitely try it … I would just google the conversion because I don’t think you’d use the exact same measurement. And I haven’t tried it with chunky but I’m sure it would be great!

Wonderful recipe! My hubby loves it with Nutella & to make PB&J sandwiches. I did use 1 cup of whole wheat bread flour in the mix the 3rd time around & it was still fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

My grandmother just gave me her old Bread maker, the recipes that are ncluded are for 1 or 1.5lbs bread, so should I cut the recipe in half?
Randi Dukes says
Yes, I would cut it in half and see how it turns out. You may be able to do a full recipe.

Randi,
I wanted to let you know used your recipe with a few changes of my own. In turn I made the bread into an awesome french toast! I made sure to give you full credit on my blog and have been following you for some time. I love your ideas and would love to connect with you as I am just starting with my blog being public, and my variation of this recipe is my first of its kind on my blog. I have provided link below. Again thank you for being an inspiration.

Hi All! This sounds yummy!!!! I am gonna try this as a little Christmas surprise for a friend of mine who loves peanut butter. It is mentioned to bake it on the “Regular” setting. There is no such thing as a “Regular” setting on bread machines. Is the “White Bread” setting what you are referring to? That is the only thing I can think of but want to be sure. God knows I have messed up a few loaves learning my way around my new bread maker. Don’t want to mess this one up. It has a long trip across country to it’s final resting place via USPS Priority Mail. Or shall I say to it’s death (it is not gonna last a second) LOL.
Randi Dukes says
Yes – the white setting! Sorry!
Sandi says
I would love to try this but just wondering . . . The photo looks like the top of the loaf is sunken in. Is it supposed to do that?
Randi Dukes says
It just depends on the day, for me. I’m not a bread machine expert but, depending on outside humidity, sometimes the top of my loaf will sink.
Brenda Armer says
Do I have to use bread flour
Randi Dukes says
No. I’ve used all-purpose flour many times.
April says
have you ever added cocoa? I just included 2 TBSP cocoa but its not done yet. stay tuned.
Randi Dukes says
Let me know how that turns out … it sounds amazing!
Reba says
trying to figure out…..when to add the peanut butter and yeast – I read your previous answer but still not sure. would the yeast go on top of the peanut butter as the last ingredient OR would the yeast go on top of the flour and then the peanut butter would be on top of the yeast as the last ingredient added to the machine.

Such a great loaf of bread. I would have never thought of this creation. I needed to use up some peanut butter and we are bread lovers. I came across this recipe and here I am commenting after I made it. It’s so delicious. I used my bread machine on dough cycle. I shaped 2 round loaves for my cast iron small pans. I think they are 8″ and 6-1/2″. This dough is SO EASY to work with. I let the dough rise for an hour then I baked at 350F for 25 minutes or so. I did cover them with tin foil for the last 5 minutes as they were golden but I felt they needed a little more time to bake. I temperature probed them and the bread was at 192 ishF so I was satisfied. I did not use the powdered sugar topping as we plan on toasting. Great, soft delicious bread. I will be using this recipe for Christmas gifts. It’s that good!! Thank you, Randi. Hugs to you!!!

Mine was a flop I looked in the breed machine about 1/2 way through and it looked good but when it was done it had fell what did make was good though
Randi Dukes says
Was your yeast fresh? My loaves drop when my yeast isn’t great.
