Have you been following along on the monthly blog hop Cricut projects I’ve been doing? Each month I’ve been joining with a crafty group of bloggers to share some creative ideas that all use the same base material. We’ve crafted with repurposed cereal boxes, burlap fabric, tissue paper {click on any of those links to see the past projects}, and this month we’re crafting with paint chips! I love colorful ombre paint chips and I love that you can grab a few for no cost. I created some really cute {and really simple} upcycled paint chip flower magnets and they’re the perfect addition to my scalloped magnetic chalkboard!
I grabbed a few colorful paint chips at my local hardware store, choosing colors that match the colorful palette I use in my decor. I’m a sucker for bright, bold colors and the more, the merrier.
Working in Cricut Design Space, I found some three dimensional flowers {I love the ones that cut like a coil} and cut a variety with my Cricut Explore Air 2, sizing them to about four inches diameter and cutting them on the standard grip mat. I set the cutting medium to light chipboard, I think, because I tried setting it to cardstock and it didn’t cut fully.
Using a Cricut tool, I coiled the flowers with the colored side in, hot glued them in place with the bottom tab, and used the same tool to curve the petals out, giving the flower a fuller appearance.
To turn them into magnets, I simply attached a small piece of magnetic tape to the back.
These little flower magnets are such a cute and colorful addition to my magnetic chalkboard and a great way to hold notes in place.
