Are you a big instant pot user? I’ve had one for a while but I have to admit, I haven’t used it much. I decided to start experimenting with it a little more and had to share the first instant pot dessert I made: instant pot chocolate strawberry dump cake! With only three ingredients, this recipe couldn’t be easier. Just throw everything in and dessert can cook while you eat dinner!
To make this dump cake recipe, you’ll need 1 can of strawberry pie filling, 1 chocolate cake mix, and 1/4 cup butter.
Start with an oven safe dish that will fit inside your instant pot.
Spray it with cooking spray then dump in the pie filling and sprinkle the cake mix over top. Depending on the size of your instant pot and the dish, you may only want to use 1/2 or 3/4 of the cake mix.
Cut the butter into pieces and place the pieces over the top of the cake mix.
Place a trivet in the bottom of the instant pot {a trivet with handles makes it much easier to lift the dish out of the instant pot at the end} and pour one cup of water into the bottom of the instant pot.
Cover the cake pan with foil to prevent moisture from dripping in while cooking and set it inside the instant pot, on top of the trivet.
Cook on a manual setting for 25 minutes. I have a knock-off instant pot without a manual setting but I did some online research and almost all of the settings on my pot cook at the same temperature so I selected one of those and then altered the time for 25 minutes.
When the time is up, release the steam/pressure, then remove the cake pan from the instant pot and let it cool a little before serving.
This instant pot dump cake was so delicious! The cake mix cooked perfectly with a chewy, brownie-like consistency and the strawberry pie filling was the perfect complement!
And it was all so easy! I’ll definitely be experimenting more with my instant pot!
