Bleached Star Shirts

I love making something fun for my kids to wear on the Fourth of July and this year they’ll be sportingcoordinating bleached star shirts!

bleached star shirts for the 4th of July

To make these simple shirts for Independence Day, I bought red and blue t-shirts, tanks, and a onesie for Tate.

I mixed a bleach solution of 70% bleach and 30% water in a spray bottle then laid the shirts flat on a garbage bag.  For best results, place another garbage bag inside the shirts so the bleach doesn’t seep through to the back of the shirt.

I laid plastic glow-in-the-dark stars {found at the dollar store} on top of the shirts, arranged them in random patterns, mixing big with small, and then sprayed over top of the stars with bleach.

I let the shirts dry and then washed and dried them in the washing machine on a cold setting.

I love the variation in these bleached star shirts. Some bleached more than others, and although Lila and Kennedy chose the exact same shirts, they bleached completely differently, one with a white tone and one with a pinkish-red tone.

This is such a fun and easy way to decorate a shirt and looks so fun for the 4th!

Your kids are going to look so cute in their coordinating t-shirts! I’m not familiar with this technique and I like it!
