We love our dogs in this house and pet birthday parties are totally a thing, so when my daughter’s dog turned one we celebrated! Because charcuterie boards are all the rage right now, we thought it would be fun to make a dog version. This dog treat barkuterie board is the perfect idea for a dog birthday party or any event that should be celebrated. Grab the family pups or the neighborhood friends, let yourself go into full dog mom or dog dad mode, and have some fun!
This dog treat charcuterie board can be made in any size. If you’re just celebrating with one dog, make a mini version on a small plate or dish. We obviously didn’t allow our dogs to eat all of these treats but using a pile of different treats just looked really cute.
How to Make a Dog Treat Charcuterie Board
To get started, you’ll need something to use as the base. Since dogs may have contact with the board, you might not want to use your best wooden cutting board {wink}. This is the perfect time to hit up the thrift store for a cheap cutting board or platter. You can also use a paper plate or a regular plate. What you choose to use as the base will depend a lot on your dog and your feelings about animals eating off human dishes.
What Treats to Use on a Charcuterie Board for Dogs
The next step to creating the dog treat board is to gather different dog treats. You can hit up the grocery store and find packages of treats or go to a pet supply store that has bulk bins for more variety in smaller amounts.
Don’t overlook human food. I added cheese blocks, baby carrots, apple slices, and a small dish of whipped cream to Murphy’s snack board.
You know what your dog loves best so be sure to include the favorites.

Once you’ve gathered all the goodies, start laying them out on the board or base.
Since your dog doesn’t care what it looks like {smile}, you’re really just setting it up for a good photo opp. Space out the color, add some treats to a cup to get some height, and stack some of the treats. Get creative and have fun with it!
Once it’s all set up, don’t forget to take a few pictures of your spoiled pup and then let them go to town! We let the dogs help themselves to the board because they were good about taking one treat at a time but you may need to help your dog to avoid overindulging.
Have fun celebrating your pup … and let me know what fun treats you add to the barkuterie board!
