Last week I shared the colorful paper plate photo booth backdrop we’ll be using at my daughter’s graduation party next month and today I want to share another fun DIY that’ll take center stage: DIY donut and bagel stands! We’ll be hosting a morning graduation party with a bagel bar and piles of donuts … which is a pretty great way to start the day!
To make these DIY bagel stands and donut stands, I went to my local craft store and bought round wooden discs in different sizes along with long wooden dowels.
I used my center finder {this is an affiliate link for one of my favorite tools} to mark the center of each wood circle …
… and drilled through the mark using a drill bit the same size as the wooden dowel. Be careful to drill straight down and not at an angle or the posts won’t stand up straight.
Since this graduation party is all about color {and lots of it}, I painted the sides of the wood circles with the colors in the backdrop: bright pink, orange, turquoise, and lime green.
Once dry, I pushed the dowels into the drilled holes {you can cut the dowels to the height you want first} and used a rubber hammer to tap them in tightly. They should fit really well but if there’s any discrepancy, you can fill the hole with wood glue to hold the dowel in tight.
Stack the stands with flavored bagels and serve alongside your favorite cream cheese varieties …
… or stack donuts, alternating different flavors and colors.
This is such a simple DIY and a really fun way to serve bagels and donuts at a party!
