Glitter Utensils for a Party

My daughter’s recent girl’s day out birthday party was all about the pink and gold with a bit of glitter thrown in for necessity and good measure.  Pink and gold glitter utensils were a no-brainer and the girls thought they were perfectly glamorous.  It’s amazing how much fun a little bit of glitter can add to a plain old fork!

glitter utensils

I started with plain pink paper goods and plastic forks {and polka dot straws, of course} and fine glitter {fine glitter will adhere and coat much better than coarse glitter}.

I only wanted to jazz up part of the fork handles so I brushed about an inch of matte mod podge onto the end of each fork {front and back} …

… and coated the mod podge completely with gold glitter.  I shook off the excess glitter and propped them up to dry.

When the forks were completely dry and the glitter was hard, I covered the glittered end with another coat of mod podge.  This prevents glitter from getting all over hands, faces, and everything else when the forks are being used.

The forks looked so fun and I seriously thought about glittering a huge batch of plasticware so the kids can have sparkles every day in their lunchboxes.  Too much?  I don’t know.  I’m not sure you can ever have too much glitter!
