A Chip and Dip Station for Game Day

This chip and dip station is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Rubbermaid and Sharpie but all opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

Are you ready for some football?  My guys can’t wait for the big game since their favorite team is playing {hint: we’ll be cheering for the orange and the blue} and we’re getting game day ready around here!  Since food and football go hand in hand, I have a simple referee-themed chip and dip station party idea that’s perfect for game day!

I like the idea of decorating in team colors but the fresh black and white of referee stripes won out.  And to make this game day spread super simple, I used Rubbermaid containers to serve and store the party food.

When I’m entertaining, I like to have everything ready well in advance.  Using lidded Rubbermaid storage containers means I can mix the dips up in advance and store them in the fridge, stick them on the table when it’s game time, and pop the leftovers right back in the fridge when the game is over.  Less dishes, less clean-up, and it still looks fun and festive, doesn’t it?

Even better with a few black and white washi tape referee stripes added to the clear containers.

To amp it up even more, I made referee shirt food labels.

I used my cutting machine to cut shirt shapes from white cardstock but you could also freehand the cutting if you don’t have a machine.

When the shirts were all cut out, I used a black Sharpie and a ruler to add referee stripes …

… then hot glued a wooden clothespin onto the back, using hot glue.

The clothespins make it easy to attach the labels to the side of a dish but you could also attach the shirts to a wooden skewer that can be poked into the food.

Once the referee shirt food clips are ready, just add a label to each one, marking the variety of food items.

I simply printed the labels out on my computer {with regular paper} and used a glue stick to attach them to the shirts.

The labels add a fun touch to the table …

… and easily clip right onto the edge of the Rubbermaid containers so the guests know what they’re eating.

I placed a variety of chips in containers and also set out some peppers to spice things up.

Placing extra containers underneath is an easy way to add a bit of extra height and layering to the table.

This is the kind of spread my boys love: chips with a variety of dips, a few sodas, a bit of spice, and simple decor that doesn’t get in the way of the food.

And it’s the kind of spread I love too: fun DIY details, a themed table, and a party that takes less than five minutes to clean up at the end.  Lids on, in the fridge, done.

Rubbermaid and Sharpie are the perfect combination for game day entertaining!
