A Bowling Party :: Bowling Ball Goody Bags

I love all the DIY details we had at our recent birthday party but today I’m sharing my favorite DIY project from Luke and Lila’s bowling party: these adorable bowling ball goody bags or party favors that look awesome but are really super simple to make!

I have to tell you, I was so excited when I came up with this idea.  I wanted something unique and this idea is not only unique but cheap and really simple to make … the perfect combination, right?

I bought these round party favor containers at Party City.  They’re in with all the loose candy and they come in a pile of different colors.  And they’re only ninety-nine cents each … as cheap as a dollar store gift bag.

How to Make Bowling Ball Party Favors

I separated all the balls and laid all the halves out on a big sheet then spray painted them with matte black paint.  It took a few coats to get them completely covered but the paint adhered well to the plastic.  A paint that has a built-in primer or says it’s for plastic will work best.

I used my cutting machine to cut small white vinyl circles and placed them on top of each ball to look like fingerholes.  Make sure you get them in the right place on the first try because removing them will peel the paint off the ball.

Aren’t they cute?  I think they’re the perfect goody bag for a bowling party.

I filled them with a few bowling-themed goodies {wooden pens, flashlights, stickers, and bracelets} but you could also add black and white candies or other trinkets.  These bowling ball goody bags are the perfect end to a bowling party!

The “hole” placement bothers me. There’s no way your fingers are the same distance away from each other as they are from your thumb. On the positive side, though, LOVE the pin-pens.

Ohhhhh these are adorable!!! I’m currently planning the DFW Bloggers’ Spring Meet Up and we’re going bowling with dinner + drinks afterwards. This would be a great way to share take-home gifts. Thank you for the inspiration!!!!!!

I just used regular spray paint … probably Rustoleum.

Can you please help me find the ball containers. I can’t find them on the Party City website.

I can’t find them online either and I’m thinking it’s because they don’t sell them online … since you can’t fill them with candy online, there would be no need. If you go to a store, they always have them right next to all the loose candy and toys.

Thank you for sharing this! I decided to incorporate this into my daughter’s bowling birthday party, but decided to make them different colors instead of black.
