Bowling Party Invitations

Last week we held a bowling party to celebrate Luke and Lila’s birthday and I wanted to share the bowling party invitations we made for the big event!  These were easy to make and they were a great themed start to our party!

Despite the ease of electronic invitations or storebought invitations, I still love to mail or hand-deliver handmade invites to the guests.  I think they’re just such a fun touch and I love carrying the theme through every detail.

I used this idea for our bowling invitations and cut the shapes out on my Silhouette.  If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can easily cut these shapes by hand.  I copied the wording from the original invitation {it was so cute that I decided there was no sense in trying to invent something else} …

… and tied the ball to the bowling pin with a bit of twine.  The ball slides easily so you can read the information on the pin.

They’re such simple invitations but they set the tone for the party ahead … and isn’t that what a good party invitation does?

What’s your preference … do you make homemade invitations?

I made them so they’d fit in a large 5×7 envelope and could be mailed or handed out.

Did you print these on craft paper? I’m just wondering if craft paper will work on a standard printer

Yes, they’re on craft paper – a light cardstock. It runs through the printer with no problem.

Hi! I just love this bowling invitation. My son is completely obsessed with bowling and we are planning his next birthday party at the bowling alley. Where did you get the bowling pin shape? I think it’s so adorable! Thanks for sharing this great invitation!

I got it off my Silhouette software but if you don’t have a cutting machine, I’m sure you can find an image online that you can trace. Check google images!

How did you put the red stripe on the pin?

It’s just a piece of cardstock glued on … I just used a glue stick.

Hi, I absolutely love these invitations and was wondering if there was any place that I could buy them already done for me. I love home made things and I attempt to make my own things whenever I can, but I work full time and barely have enough time to breath. I don’t want my 2 kids to miss out on the special touches that you just can’t buy at the store so I was wondering if you or if you knew someone that makes these and can ship them to me asap. My son’s birthday is in the middle of March so I am starting to get nervous that I am not going to find something I like and that it won’t be done in time. Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Andrea

I don’t make them for others – I just don’t have time either. Have you looked on etsy for personalized invitations?
