Knit Easter Garland

I love all the cute carrot ideas I’ve seen this Easter and I decided to jump on the bandwagon with a simple knit carrot Easter garland.  It’s whimsical and orange {you know I love orange!} and I really love the mixed textures in it.  If you have even the most beginner knitting skills, you can make one of these garlands in no time!

If you’ve seen other garlands I’ve made recently, you’ll know I’m also having a little wire crush.  Since I didn’t want fabric or ribbon to take away from the carrots, I joined this garland together with coiled wire as well.

I alternated two different sizes of carrots, shorter carrots mixed with slightly longer carrots.  If I have some time, I’d like to make a garland with really large carrots.

The green carrot tops are made from yarn-wrapped wire I found at Michael’s.  I just cut two pieces for each carrot, poked them through the top, and twisted them a bit.

If you want to make your own carrot garland, check out the easy pattern below.

The pattern for this Easter garland is just like the one I used for this knit garland but I started with fewer stitches.  Here’s the pattern.

For the short carrots:
Cast on 10 stitches.

Row 1:  Knit 2 rows.
Row 2:  SSK, K until 2 stitches remain, K2tog.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 4 stitches remain.
Knit 2 rows.
SSK, K2tog.
Knit last 2 stitches together.  Break yarn and weave in tails.

For the longer carrots:
Cast on 10 stitches.

Row 1:  Knit 3 rows.
Row 2:  SSK, K until 2 stitches remain, K2tog.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 4 stitches remain.
Knit 3 rows.
SSK, K2tog.
Knit last 2 stitches together.  Break yarn and weave in tails.
