Apple Brownie Bites

Are you ready to send the kids back to school?  I’m not ready for the crazy whirlwind that comes with a new school year but I am ready for a bit more routine in our days.  I like to kick off the first day of school with a back to school treat and this year I’m making apple brownie bites.  These cute treats start with storebought brownie bites {score!} which makes them fun and simple!

To make apple brownie bites, head to your local grocery store for brownie bites, white icing, green and red food coloring, stick pretzels, and candies that can be used as leaves.  I like to use small green sour strips but when you send your kids to the store for ingredients, you sometimes end up with something different {wink}.  Watermelon sour patch kids are a good second choice.

In separate bowls, mix the white icing with the food coloring to create green and red frosting …

… then pipe it onto the brownie bites.  You can also spread it on if you’d prefer.

Break a pretzel in half and poke it into the top of the brownie bite.

Using kitchen shears, trim the candy into a leaf shape and poke it into the brownie bite next to the pretzel.  Use a dab of icing to make it stick, if needed.

That’s all there is to it!  Just a few small steps and you have a cute back to school treat that will give a sweet kick off to a new school year!
