Back to School Apple Cone

As much as I don’t want to think about it, the first day of school is right around the corner {groan}.  We have a tradition of having a school-themed treat on the first day of school {scroll to the bottom for links to some of our past treats} and I have a super simple idea to share with you: a back to school apple cone.  This little treat couldn’t be easier to make and the kids will love celebrating the first day with ice cream!

Start with a plain ice cream cone.  I like the colored cones because the pink one fits in better with the apple theme but a plain colored cone will also work well.  And let’s face it, kids just aren’t that picky about the details!

Add a rounded scoop of pink ice cream.  Strawberry, raspberry, and bubblegum flavors are all perfectly pink.

Poke a stick pretzel into the center of the ice cream to act as an apple stem and add a candy leaf.  I look for any flat green candy and cut it into a leaf shape using a sharp knife or kitchen shears.  If you can’t find flat green candy, use a gumdrop, roll it out with a rolling pin, and cut it into a leaf.

Super easy, right?  The kids will love celebrating school in style and you can chalk this little treat up as another memory created!
