If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I love themed parties and playdates. When I saw this adorable party, I couldn’t wait to throw our own little itsy bitsy spider party for Tate’s playgroup. The theme seemed just right for a Halloween party for two year olds. Not so spooky, just a whole lot of sweet fun.
Tate was the host arachnid in a Halloween costume we used years ago … although she shed her costume after the first two guests arrived and refused to wear it again.
The toddlers made two simple crafts.
A hanging spider was a perfect Mommy and Me craft …
… and easy enough for toddlers to help with.
We also captured those adorable little hands with a handprint spider.
Tate could hardly think about anything but food so the kiddos had snacks when the crafts were complete.
I served black, white, and green snacks and placed orange and black spiders randomly about.
Cute spider cupcakes were on the menu …
… and so were pouches of goldfish served in handmade sour cream containers made with spider web scrapbook paper.
The kids sat at a table decorated with spider web plates.
I used square black disposable plates and made the spider webs with thin strips of white duct tape. If you don’t want the kids to eat directly off the duct tape, just set a clear plate on top.
A spider and web made up the centerpiece …
… and more spiders and webs hung off the water bottles. I wrapped small water bottles with white duct tape, tied a string around the top and draped it down to a spider sticker to look like a spider hanging off its web.
Miss Jenny had a sing-along with the kiddos {a round of Itsy Bitsy Spider turned into toddler request time} …
… and after more play time, the little ones went home with sticky spider webs as a treat.
We had lots of fun with our little playgroup toddlers and moms at the itsy bitsy spider party. Happy Halloween, everyone!
