Ruffled Lace Turkey Shirt for Thanksgiving

Yesterday I whipped up a couple of versions of this ruffled lace turkey shirt for my little girls to wear on Thanksgiving Day.  I was inspired by this adorable turkey tea towel idea but decided to make the little turkeys on shirts instead of towels so the girls would have some cute Thanksgiving attire for turkey day.  I love the feminine ruffle of the lace and it’s a great way to use up lace scraps or even pieces of vintage lace!  You could even use ruffled fabric instead of lace for a fun patterned look that would be just as cute.

I cut the turkey shape out on vinyl with my cutting machine and used the vinyl outline as a stencil to paint the turkey onto the shirt.  Is it any surprise that I chose orange for the bird?  I love some orange and a good pop of color and the contrast looks really cute against the white shirt.

Once the paint was completely dry, I sewed two pieces of lace at staggering distances onto the turkey’s bottom, leaving the scalloped edges loose to fluff out, and the shirts were done.  It couldn’t have been an easier project or a simpler idea but the shirts are super cute and will look adorable on my little turkeys on Thanksgiving Day!
