DIY Art Table

I love the DIY art table I’m sharing with you today.  It was so fun to make and it’s something that my kids will use every day!  And anything that inspires creativity in a child is perfect in my house.

DIY art table upcycled from a coffee table

This art table was created as part of the Wayfair DIY Blogger Challenge.  The challenge?  To take a piece of furniture and transform it.  Doesn’t that sound like fun?  I jumped at the chance because you know how much I love to repurpose and upcycle.

I started with this coffee table from Wayfair.  It arrived in a box and I quickly put it together and began brainstorming.  I loved the idea of transforming it into an art table for my three younger kids and I knew I could find some great supplies at IKEA.

I bought a wooden paper roll holder, spray painted it orange, and mounted it to the end of the table using E6000.

I also wanted the kids to have a space for chalk drawing so I fastened a piece of adhesive chalkboard vinyl to the table …

… and glued a wrought iron drawer pull {for a cute chalk holder} onto one of the legs.  The drawer pull was also spray painted orange and glued to the table with E6000.

I wanted some buckets that could hold and organize art supplies.  I used three galvanized buckets from IKEA and used my cutting machine to label them with vinyl.

I love the industrial, utilitarian look.

The final step was to add chalkboard tags to each bin to label the contents.  I like to label baskets and buckets to help my kids stay organized.

… and my art table was complete!  My kids were so excited when they got home from school and saw it.  I’m looking forward to all the creative ideas that come from this table!

Wayfair provided the table and Giftcards.com provided a gift card for me to use to complete this project.
