It’s important to me to encourage creativity in my kids so I try to create spaces that will encourage them to draw, color, and experiment. Our DIY art table and Lila’s sewing space are two of those areas in our house {among others} but I’ve also wanted to add something to the space above the wall desk in Tate and Lila’s room.
When I altered my chore board into an art station, I made it with that space in mind.
I hung the altered board over the built-in wall desk so Lila and Tate can enjoy creative quiet time in their room. My introverted, creative Lila especially needs and craves that kind of time.
I filled the jars with pencils, crayons, and pencil crayons …
… and hung blank paper from the clips at the bottom. The supplies are all easy for little hands to reach.
To make small bulletin boards, I bought cork coasters and letters at Hobby Lobby, spray painted them in two shades of pink …
… and hung them on either side of the board. I wanted the girls to have their own spots to hang their artwork and masterpieces.
Lila and Tate love the new art station in their room and have been spending hours drawing and coloring, just as I hoped they would.
