Handprint Thanksgiving Shirts

It’s almost Thanksgiving which means it’s time to whip up some matching Thanksgiving shirts for the little kids in our family!  These handprint Thanksgiving shirts are not only a fun way to have coordinating shirts that look adorable in photos but they’re also a really cute way to capture those little handprints for eternity!

I  used craft paint in different colors and painted the kids’ hands to make handprint turkeys, stamped them onto pieces of plain muslin, and then used a Sharpie to add simple sketched legs, beaks, eyes, and wattles to each turkey.  When the paint was completely dry, I sewed them onto coordinating fabric.

Luke somehow lost his muslin turkey {how does a muslin turkey disappear from sight?} so we re-stamped his handprint right onto a shirt … it seemed a bit more boy-ish without the fabric backing.

I sewed the fabric-backed turkeys onto plain shirts and used my cutting machine to cut out text from yellow heat transfer and ironed it onto the shirts below the turkeys.

These little handprint Thanksgiving shirts turned out so cute and I love that they have such a personal touch.  I think we’ll save them in the memory boxes when the holiday is over!
