A Rustic Stacked Wood Christmas Tree

I love Christmas projects and today I’m sharing a simple tutorial for a rustic stacked wood Christmas tree as part of a Home for Christmas blog hop with Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com!  Check out the fun new addition to my Christmas mantel and then browse through the links below for piles of holiday inspiration!

rustic stacked wood Christmas tree

This stacked wood Christmas tree is a simple DIY that can be whipped up with scraps in the garage wood pile.  I used my Dad’s circle cutter to make the wood discs but a hand-held jigsaw would work equally well.

You’ll need a number of wood circles in varying increments.  I used eight wood circles.  The smallest is two inches in diameter and each one is an inch bigger than the last with the final wood circle being nine inches in diameter.  In between each wood slice, I placed a piece of dowel cut to about an inch and a quarter.

To piece the tree together, I used my brad nailer to attach wood circles and pieces of dowel but you could also glue them together with wood glue or probably even a glue gun.

I topped it with a painted metal star I had but you could top yours with a wooden star from the craft store {or cut one with a jigsaw like I did with my rustic scrap wood Christmas tree}.

This stacked wood Christmas tree is a fun addition to this year’s simple Christmas mantel.  The red star ties in with the other pops of red …

… and the rustic style looks perfect with the vintage stocking stretchers that hang on my mantel instead of stockings.  {Our stockings are hung on a DIY stocking hanger next to the fireplace.}

The cross stitched wood joy sign I made last year is still a favorite and the touches of red are perfect for the holiday season.

    What a beautiful idea Randi! I really like the stacked wood idea, and to make the little christmas tree out of it is great! I like that it is natural and the red star on top really stands out! Your display looks beautiful!

    Randi, I adore your tree. I need a circle cutter! But in the meantime I’ll make one using a jigsaw. Because I want one now! 🙂
