Creative Holiday Gift Guide for the Whole Family
Every year I vow to get creative with my gift giving and I often slack off completely. The busy-ness of life can steal creativity but this year I’m determined to do better.
If you’re like me and can’t always think of the perfect gift, let these holiday gift guide items trigger some ideas: think of collections the recipient might have, hobbies they love, or your favorite items that you think everyone should own!
Creative Gift Ideas for Women
Whether you’re looking for stocking stuffers or full gifts, these are some of my favorite gift ideas for the women in your life.
I’ve loved ziploc accessory bags since the first time I saw them. I know you can just grab a regular old freezer bag when you’re traveling or storing items but these accessory bags make it all a whole lot more stylish. {Tip: buy one package and divide them up among a whole pile of stockings!}
A Puffy Blanket is the ideal gift for anyone on your list! Whether you’re snuggling up on the couch to watch a movie or slumbering in bed, the Puffy Blanket looks and feels amazing. This cozy blanket has faux fur on one side and velvety micro mink on the other so it’s both warm and super gentle on your skin.
I love candles but wood wick candles take it up a notch. They not only smell amazing but the sound of the wood wick burning adds a whole other element of awesome. {Tip: you can almost always find these candles at Home Goods for a fraction of the price.}
If your sister or bestie loves coffee, give them a bag or two of the Frida Kahlo x Amor Perfecto collaboration coffees. The packaging couldn’t be cuter, the coffee is amazing, and the company stands firm on their values. Amor Perfecto is the only company in the world to own their entire supply chain, meaning they supply the world’s freshest coffee. But in addition, they’ve been at the forefront of providing fair pay and equal opportunity to their farmers, even paying their farmers five times the rate of their competition. This new collaboration with the Frida Kahlo corporation highlights the coffees produced by their female-owned and operated farms and what better way to do that than with the iconic Mexican artist.
A wine subscription is the perfect idea for a wine-loving friend. You don’t have to give an entire year … even a month or two is perfect. {Tip: buy some cheap wine glasses and a corkscrew at the dollar store and wrap them up with a note about the subscription.}
Plants are all the rage right now {who else is taking great pride in being a plant mom?} and a propagation kit makes a fun gift idea. {Tip: include some trimmings from your own house plants so the propagation can get started right away.}
I know you’re not supposed to give appliances and cleaning items as gifts but personally, I’d love to receive a Bissell vacuum and steam mop. Anything that saves time and makes my house look better is a win for me. {Tip: if you really want to earn points, give this gift along with a coupon that says you’ll do all the vacuuming for a year!}
Save the environment with reusable beeswax food wrap, the perfect gift idea for your granola group. Not only are they reusable but they’re also super cute!
Tik tok has made a lot of things famous recently and these whiteboard stickers are one. They’re a fun idea for a busy family but would also be a great gift for the college or teen crowd. {Tip: wrap them up with a handful of colorful dry erase markers.}
Do you know someone who loves to get creative? Or someone who loves plants but doesn’t have a green thumb? Gift a felt succulents kit.
Travel has declined a lot this year and many of us are wishing we could visit other cities or even go home to our family. These homesick scented candles are such a fun gift idea. We may not be able to travel a lot but you can still smell your favorite city.
Creative Gift Ideas for Men
Men can sometimes be tricky to buy for but I’ve included some fun ideas in this year’s holiday gift guide. With all the work from home that’s happening this year, desk organization is key. Cable Clips are the perfect way to keep cords and chargers at hand. One package contains a number of clips so you can place one near desks in every room.
Looking for a big gift idea? How about airpods pro? You’ll win some serious brownie points with this one!
Have you got a coffee aficionado in your life? Give an aeropress coffee maker. It’s far less expensive than other coffee makers and makes a delicious cup of coffee or espresso. {Tip: gift it along with a package of locally roasted coffee.}
If you don’t want to buy a coffee maker, what about a temperature control smart mug? No more cold cups of coffee because of life’s distractions.
If you’ve got a plant lover in your life, give an aloe vera plant. He’ll enjoy the greenery and be able to use it on sunburns and cuts. Plus, those pointy leaves are kind of manly {wink}.
Sliding into a cold bed is the worst so warm it up with a blanket warmer. This neat gift idea even comes with an attachment so you can dry damp shoes. It’s an athlete’s dream gift!
With the way things have gone in 2020, many of us now roll out of bed and head straight to a desk just yards away. Add a little activity to a sedentary lifestyle with an under the desk cycle. This is the perfect gift idea for a workaholic multitasker!
A smart wine scanner is a neat idea for someone who wants to take their wine skills up a notch. It registers acidity, tannins, strength, and a whole pile of other things and sends them straight to your smart phone. It’s the perfect gift for a want-to-be sommelier.
If you need a fun white elephant gift or a silly stocking stuffer, mistaken lyrics coasters are just the thing … and you can even get them for specific decades.
Creative Gift Ideas for Kids, Tweens, and Teens
If your teens and tweens are like mine, especially the girls, they take a whole lot of photos. Turn their favorites into Mixtiles, photo tiles that attach directly to the wall with adhesive. They’re a fun way to update a room in a meaningful way.
If you’ve been on social media at all lately, you’ve probably seen that hot chocolate bombs are all the rage. What kid wouldn’t want to find some in their stocking?
If you’ve got a kiddo that loves Disney movies, give a Disney plus subscription.
Reading is always a good thing and the Dog Man books are wildly popular with the kids these days, according to one of my favorite teachers.
With the cereal cup, there’s no spoon, no bowl, and the cereal and milk don’t meet until they hit your mouth. {Tip: package it up with a small box or two of cereal.}
Only in 2020 would this be a cool gift but this is the year to give a tie dye mask kit to the kiddos. It’s a craft and a useful item all in one.
Frixion pens are one of my favorite things in the whole world and they make a fun gift for any age. Colorful and fully erasable, they’re perfect for a planner addict.
Boys can be difficult to buy for but this dinosaur soap making kit is a fun one. Not only can boys and girls make fun dino-shaped soaps but it might even urge them to take more baths {wink}.
One of my daughters has LED strip lights all around her room and they’re a big hit with the teen crowd. They can be changed to different colors for some extreme mood lighting {wink}.
Here’s a fun idea for a teen or tween: the book 97 Things to do Before you Finish High School. It’s full of ideas and inspiration and definitely beats out socks and underwear {smile}.
Creative Gift Ideas for Pets
We can’t forget the family pets in our holiday gift guide. I’m a dog owner so I have no idea what cats like {besides these homemade cat treats}, but here are a handful of ideas for dogs and their owners.
Whether your dog is trekking through a muddy backyard or living it up at the dog park, a portable dog paw cleaner is a must have. Keep it near the back door or in the trunk of your car for a quick clean any time.
Keep your dog stimulated and entertained with its very own dog puzzle.
Dog treats are great {especially the homemade kind} but macarons dog treats hit different. Your favorite dog mom will definitely appreciate these cute treats.
If you’ve got a mutt and have no idea what might be lurking in its genes, grab a DNA dog kit. You’ll not only find out what breeds your dog is but it can also find health conditions.
No more working mom/dad guilt with this dog camera that doubles as a treat tosser. Your dog won’t even know you’re gone {wink}.
I’d love to hear what you’re giving this holiday season … be sure to leave a comment!
