My youngest daughter just celebrated her tenth birthday which means all five of my kids are officially in the double digits! Tate has a thing for watermelon right now so we celebrated with a watermelon spa party at home. I added a few creative ideas {my favorite part of any party} and thought I’d share these watermelon party ideas in case you’re throwing a party of your own. And be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post because I’ve linked everything you need for the party.
Since the girls would be using our large kitchen table for some of their spa activities, I set the food and drinks up on my vintage island. This was a mid-afternoon party so we just served light snacks along with cupcakes.
I used the cutest set of watermelon themed balloons to create two balloon garlands that I draped over the food table. This balloon set had four different colors and styles of balloons and it was really the perfect decoration for the party. The balloon garland added an instant cute factor and each garland took less than five minutes to make. {If you haven’t used balloon garland strips, they’re truly the easiest, most fail-proof way to make a balloon garland. The product is linked at the bottom of this post.}
Because my vintage island sits in the middle of the kitchen and not up against a wall, I added some height with a simple white crate and draped one of the garlands over that.
I made super easy watermelon cupcakes by baking plain cupcakes in green polka dot wrappers, topping them with pink storebought icing that I piped on in a swirl pattern, and adding small black candies to look like watermelon seeds.
We found the cutest watermelon slice birthday candle at a local craft store.
I used my Cricut machine and black glitter vinyl to add watermelon seeds to a large clear drink dispenser …
… as well as to mason jar glasses. Then I cut the top off small green 5″ balloons and stretched them over the bottom of the glasses to look like the watermelon rind.
I added homemade straw toppers to paper straws {you can make straw toppers easily by finding free clip art online and adding the text you need in a word processing program} …
… and served red koolaid. When the girls filled their glasses, they looked like little slices of watermelon. This little DIY was one of my favorite additions to the party.
The girls entertained themselves with foot soaks {buy dollar store bowls and add a bath bomb to each one for moisturizing soaks}, watermelon painted nails {red nails with a green tip and seeds drawn on with a sharpie}, face masks and cucumber eye patches, homemade one in a melon tattoos {check out this easy tutorial for making homemade tattoos}, and snacks. It was an afternoon with lots of giggling and a lot of fun … exactly as a birthday party should be!
